Amidst the unwavering efforts of Lawyers to uphold justice, a heartwarming story of unity and continuous growth unfolded at the NBA Ikeja Branch. In a bid to promote learning and development, the branch’s Continuous Learning Education (CLE) Committee teamed up with the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC) to offer a life-changing skills and training program to its members.
The journey towards empowerment began on the 25th of July 2023, as enthusiastic participants gathered for an intense four-day training in mediation and conciliation. From 9 am to 5 pm each day, the members wholeheartedly embraced the art of conflict resolution, eagerly immersing themselves in the valuable lessons. Thoughtfully structured training sessions provided much-needed tea breaks and lunch hours, ensuring the participants remained engaged and productive.
Making this opportunity accessible to all members was a testament to the branch’s commitment to fostering a supportive and knowledgeable legal community. The Chairman of the NBA Ikeja, Mr. Seyi Olawumiand his team secured a remarkable 50% discount for those who registered to attend the training, eliminating financial barriers and reinforcing the belief that education should be inclusive and empowering for everyone. On several occasions throughout the training, Mr. Olawumi generously gifted books and law reports to actively involved members, encouraging them to deepen their legal knowledge and apply it effectively in mediation cases.
As the program concluded on the 28th of July 2023, the impact of the training was evident. Participants were effusive in their testimonials, expressing their gratitude for the invaluable knowledge and skills they had acquired. Beyond the theoretical understanding of mediation, they were equipped with practical tools to address disputes with empathy, tact, and professionalism.
